Where the SB-170 is low and rounded, the SB-171 stands taller and sharper. The back flares outward toward the top and is divided down the center by a vertical seam, each half button-tufted in a pale leather. Square arms in a second color frame a third-color seat cushion with a pale band below it, and the whole piece lifts off the floor on four tapered natural-wood legs.
Range shown. The white-background shot has a beige back, olive arms and cognac seat; the room photographs add olive-seat and brown-seat versions with the same back. Any split of COM or COL across back, arms and seat is possible.
Construction. Hardwood frame with ply back panel shaped to the flare, HR foam with fiber wrap on the back, sprung or webbed seat; buttons anchored through the back panel, not just the foam.
Specifying it. The flared back makes the unit wider at the top than at the seat; plan on the top dimension. Use facing pairs across a 30 x 48 in (76 x 122 cm) table, or singles against a planter or screen.
Where it works. Garden restaurants, hotel cafés and brasseries that want a high-back seat without fixed millwork.
