The SB-167 encloses its guests without becoming a closed box. The back rises high and sweeps up towards each end into wings, giving privacy at the table; the upper band of the back and wings is natural cane in a walnut frame, so light still passes through above head height. The back is upholstered in three vertical cream panels, the seat is a single cream cushion, and the whole piece stands on tapered walnut legs with a timber rail below the seat.
Where it works. Window positions, hotel restaurants and wine bars where a booth must feel private but the room should not look partitioned. Two facing units create a semi-enclosed bay; the curved, rounded end panel is finished on the outside so the piece can stand at the end of a run or alone.
Construction. Solid hardwood and ply frame, with a curved end panel built over formers; cane set into rebated frames; HR foam seat on a ply deck; back panels individually upholstered and fixed from behind.
Specifying it. Wing height, back height and the depth of the cane band are to drawing. COM/COL is scheduled for seat and back panels; cream faux leather is shown. Approximate COM is 4-5 yd of plain 54 in for the standard length. Foams specified to meet CAL TB 117-2013 or BS 5852 on request.
