The SB-172 is the smallest freestanding booth in the library, sized for two-tops where a full banquette would be too much. A straight back with three shallow buttons sits between soft, rounded arms; seat and back are separate cushions; and the whole upholstered body rests on a slim walnut rail carried on four tapered legs. The exposed rail gives the piece a lighter, more domestic look than a plinth-based booth.
Range shown. Caramel seat and back with olive arms; olive seat with a beige back and brown arms; and in the room views, pale backs over olive or cognac seats. Oil-wax leathers suit the piece because they patina rather than scuff, but any COL or COM can be scheduled.
Construction. Hardwood frame, webbed or sprung seat, HR foam cushions; walnut rail and legs as one sub-frame bolted to the body, so the upholstered part can be re-covered separately.
Where it works. Café-restaurants, hotel breakfast rooms and garden dining rooms, set in facing pairs or opposite loose chairs.
