The SC-221 is a lounge chair whose frame does the talking. Each side is a pair of solid walnut members crossing in a shallow V, forming arm and legs in one gesture, with the upholstered seat and back held between them as a separate box. The sample is covered in a high-contrast black and white botanical print, which the angular frame frames like a picture.
Construction. Solid hardwood side frames, glued and dowelled, bolted to a hardwood and ply upholstered body; seat on sinuous springs or webbing with HR foam and fiber wrap; back cushion fixed. Because the body is bolted in, it can be re-covered off the frame.
Specifying it. Lounge seat height is about 16-17 in (41-43 cm). COM requirement is around 5-6 yd of plain 54 in fabric; a large-scale print like the sample needs more for motif matching across seat, back and outside back, and we mark the match on the drawing. Specify the frame species and stain to sample.
Where it works. Hotel lobbies, lounge areas within restaurants, waiting zones and bar lounges where guests sit for drinks rather than a full meal. It pairs well with a low table at about 16-18 in (41-46 cm). Fabric and foam specified to meet CAL TB 117-2013 or BS 5852 on request.
