The SC-217 is a small-footprint side chair with a decorative back. Two square back posts finish in turned finials; between them sits an oval upholstered medallion framed in timber, set above a shaped crest rail. The seat is a fully upholstered pad with a rounded front edge, and the legs are braced with side and rear stretchers.
The sample shown carries a black-and-white botanical print on both the oval and the seat, which shows how a pattern reads on this chair: the oval frames a single motif, so a large-scale print works best there.
Construction. Solid hardwood frame with dowelled and glued joints, stretchers on three sides; seat of HR foam on a webbed or ply deck; the back medallion is an upholstered board set into a rebated oval frame and can be replaced separately.
Specifying it. COM yardage is low, typically around 1 yd of plain 54 in fabric for seat and oval combined, more for a print that must be centered. Tell us if the motif should be centered on the oval and the seat; we mark placement on the drawing. Stain is to sample. Fabric and foam specified to meet CAL TB 117-2013 or BS 5852 on request.
