The SC-225 is the one chair in this collection that needs no fabric at all, which is the point: it goes where upholstery would not survive, or where a schedule wants a hard chair to sit alongside upholstered banquettes. A bright tubular steel frame forms the legs, seat rails and back uprights in continuous bends. Three solid wood slats make the seat, and two curved slats make the back, each fixed to the frame with visible round-head screws.
Construction. Bent steel tube, welded at the rails, in polished chrome, brushed stainless or powder coat; seat and back slats in solid hardwood with an oiled or lacquered finish suited to the venue. Slats screw on, so damaged ones are replaced individually.
Specifying it. Specify the frame finish and the slat species and stain on the finish schedule. For terraces, specify a stainless frame and an exterior-grade hardwood with an oil finish, and plan for re-oiling. Glides to suit the floor.
Where it works. Cafés, bistros, terraces and canteens, and as the hard-seat partner to the SB-179 café banquette.
