The SB-160 splits the back into two specifiable zones. The lower zone is a conventional upholstered back and seat in bouclé with a contrast welt; the upper zone is a timber frame holding a row of vertical felt-covered panels, separated from the upholstery by a continuous brushed-metal band. The frame continues down the end panels and onto a recessed dark timber plinth.
Why specify it. The upper panels behave like wall finish, not seating: they take far less wear than a seat back, so they can be specified in wool felt or a tackable acoustic fabric that would not survive as upholstery. In a hard-surfaced room, the panels add soft area at ear height for seated guests.
Construction. Kiln-dried hardwood and engineered-ply frame, glued and screwed; panels are fabric-wrapped boards fixed from behind and individually replaceable; HR foam seat on a ply deck.
Specifying it. Give the panel material separately from the seat COM on your schedule. Panel widths are set on the drawing so a whole number fits each section; tell us if they must align with wall paneling or windows above. Acoustic performance depends on the panel build-up and is not claimed; we can include an acoustic core on request. Foams specified to meet CAL TB 117-2013 or BS 5852 on request.
