Floating a banquette off the floor makes a narrow room look deeper and lets cleaning machines run straight under the seat. The SB-182 does this at full scale: a long, high-back run in terracotta, hung from the wall with no legs or plinth. The back has three deep horizontal channels in a textured woven fabric, the seat is a smooth leather or vinyl box, and a slim timber reveal under the seat gives the bottom edge a clean shadow line.
Construction. Steel or hardwood carcass engineered as a cantilever, fixed to the wall on a continuous steel rail; upholstered back panels hang on the same rail and lift off. The wall behind must be structural masonry or framed with blocking designed for the load.
Specifying it. Because the banquette is cantilevered, the fixing is part of the design: we supply the load assumptions and fixing layout for review by the project's structural engineer before production. State the wall construction on the survey. Seat depth and back height are set on the drawing; the fabric and leather lines are scheduled separately.
Where it works. Narrow dining rooms, hotel restaurants, cafés and bars where floor cleaning and a light visual footprint matter.
